Case studies

EMEA Sales Director- Cloud Services - Originally retained to perform a bench-marking exercise for an internal promotion under consideration, our remit widened into a full search due to the calibre of comparison candidates sourced. Absolute discretion was paramount given the sensitive nature of the appointment, hence all interviews were arranged off-site and co-ordinated through one point of contact. We were able to provide the client with verifiable data on all our candidates’ achievement records to justify the subsequent external hiring.

Global Security Evangelist – Top 10 Global Law firm - Introduced by a “Big 4” consultancy to one of their clients looking to fill a new position to help address increasing governance and compliance issues, the brief required candidates who could work comfortably at all levels from support staff to partners. The role centred on raising awareness of the business enabling benefits of IT Security rather than just enforcing rules. The variety of cultures encountered in this global firm added another sensitive dimension. We sourced candidates primarily across the Americas and EMEA arranging video meetings to facilitate initial interviews,– saving the client time and expense. The client was happy to offer either of the final two candidates and the successful person is still in post.

Attack & Pen Test team lead - UK Security Consultancy - The key requirement of this search was for the successful candidate to be a true “seller/doer” – able to win new business and oversee subsequent delivery. They needed to be not only technically credible with staff and clients, but also to be able to manage the team effectively and take commercial responsibility too. Candidates had to prove hands on proficiency with a selection of over 250 pen test tools, demonstrate key management experience and personal involvement in new business wins. This required in depth screening of all 3 key skill sets and evidence of achievement in each to justify inclusion on the shortlist. This search resulted in a successful primary appointment and that of an additional team-member, rapidly strengthening the client’s vulnerability consulting services.

2 x FS Enterprise Architects – Global SI - This global client had been looking for 6 months using internal resources and direct advertising. New urgency, arising from specific new business wins, required external support and ERA Search were engaged again based on previous prompt service. We completed the assignment within 2 months, helping both successful candidates to negotiate early releases and prompt starts.

5 x Country Security Practice Leads – Global Software Co - This complex brief involved concurrently sourcing Security Practice leads for 5 EMEA regions. Each country’s shortlist of candidates required broadly the same technical backgrounds, but with region specific commercial experience. Also different regions had varying public / private sector targeting according to local market conditions. We had to agree timelines and resourcing to achieve all 5 placements within a specified period. This involved ERASearch in EMEA collaboration with other trusted search organisations to widen our reach and ensure we accessed the best local candidates. This involved complex co-ordination of the clients and partners resources with candidates in each region.
